How to Prepare Your Home for Rent

Property Checklist:
□ Are utilities on? (utilities will need to remain on in the Owner's name until the start date of
the Lease Agreement)
□ If the home was previously leased, have locks been changed/re-keyed? We will require 3 copies of
all house keys. All locks should use the same key (even storage and garage doors).
□ All personal items removed from home? (boxes, debris, lawn equipment, cleaning supplies,
curtains, etc.) don't forget attics, cabinets, drawers, garages and storage spaces.
□ Have air filters been changed and are currently clean?
□ Is there a 10-year, sealed-lithium, combination smoke & co detector on each level of the home?
□ Is there a smoke detector in each bedroom? We recommend lithium, as they last 10 years.
□ Are all light bulbs in place and working? Inside and outside?
□ Do all appliances work properly?
□ Is paint uniform, neutral and in good condition throughout (no obvious or bad touch-ups, or excessive nail holes or smudges)?
□ If carpeted, have carpets been professionally cleaned with no visible stains?
□ Are outside structures in good condition?
□ Is yard well kept? (shrubs trimmed back, lawn maintained)
□ Are gutters free of leaves and debris?
□ Has the home been thoroughly cleaned? (Including floors, appliances, windows, baseboards and all
plumbing and light fixtures)
